By submitting an application to use COMPASS data, you are agreeing to the COMPASS data use policies.

This policy states that the applicant will only use data to investigate the stated projects aims and that all data will be maintained to protect privacy. Unless stated in the project proposal directly, only the IPPH COMPASS staff is allowed to recontact participants. In addition, the investigator provides their permission to publicly display their name/project description on the COMPASS website.

Approval expires in 1 year. COMPASS PIs and Advisory Board would need to sign off on publications/co-authorship. In addition, authorship will not only be determined based on secondary data analyses but based on the broader study as well as the COMPASS resource is the result of significant effort over many years by different contributors. Any assay results or variables generated from samples would go back to COMPASS dataset for future research use. The data/results will only be used for the specific aims proposed and approved for and the applicant understands that the data/samples generated by their project will be shared with other investigators beyond the applicant. There may be a small cost to pull data and/or to aliquot the biologic samples associated with the request. PIs not affiliated with the University of Chicago will need to complete a data use agreement.
